I sometimes ask the waiter how their system works i.e. do they keep their own tips, share amongst the staff (including kitcen staff) or does the owner get it? If it goes through the card, the provider will receive a percentage if the tip. I'm not sure what century VanguardLH lives in, but taxis, my window cleaner and the local ice-cream van all have card resders, but of course they all prefer cash. -- Jim the Geordie
