At the time computers like the C64, Spectrum etc. were just called home 
computers and as far as I remember they were pretty much dead before the 
term PC started to be commonly used.

Personally I assume that if someone says PC* they mean a Windows based 
desktop PC and not a more generic one.

*Of course if they have an Apple PC then I'm pretty sure they will tell you!
