Parfois. Les dictionnaires peuvent tout simplement avoir tort. 
Rappelons-nous que la définition du mot 'siphon' dans l'OED fut erronée 
pendant presque un siècle.

La plupart des dictionnaires sont descriptifs, constatent l'usage, qui 
n'est pas forcément correct. On peut parfois le prouver quand il existe 
des critères objectifs.
