My assumption is that she just looked at it and saw the name on it. An easy way of getting some basic information. Of course my local Publix makes it even easier as they have a loyalty club. To get the rewards every time you come shopping they want you to input your phone number as you pay so someone could just watch you type in your phone number. Something that is much more revealing than just your name since there could be many people in the area with your name (how many John Smith's are there in your city?) As for the woman, I'm not sure she is capable of doing something more electronic and nefarious. >Also, of course, my mom is dead Sadly that's true for me as well. :( >The part that terrifies me is where she says “so naturally I followed him >to the checkout counter…“ It's perfectly normal behavior, right? It would be if she followed that sentence with "and I finally worked up the courage to ask him out." >Most of the attractive women at the grocery store don’t use their iPhones >to pay their bill and never have their grocery store card with them so they >tell the cashier their phone number. I’ve wondered how many people might be >memorizing the number and reverse directory them later. Yep, that's one reason I've never signed up to that loyalty club. Plus the rewards sort of suck as it's something like $5 off the first bill and then not much more.
