It's the name they give to when Israel emerged as an independent nation. The Peel District School Board, which controls most of the schools in Toronto's western suburbs, commemorates Nakba Day and the provincial Minister of Education wants it to stop: https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-lecce-tells-peel-district-school-board-to-drop-nakba-politics The minister is getting pushback from the Peel board and the Muslim parents it represents.
