So might it be the British Whovians (with Disney+) have deserted > the BBC, so deflating the BARB figures .... but, eventually, inflating > the Disney+ figures?? No. The viewing numbers shown are for the U.K. only and come from an independent agency called BARB (originally British Audience Research Bureau but just BARB now). The first figures shown are “overnights” or VOSDAL figures. These figures include those watching on live TV (including +1 channels where these exist - the BBC doesn’t have them but some commercial channels still do) and the increasingly tiny number of viewers who record the show and watch it later the same night. They DON’T include any viewers using iPlayer - including those who use the iPlayer app on their TV or broadband box to access the show EVEN IF they are watching at the same time as the live broadcast. This also means that anyone who comes in a minute or two late and presses the green button on their TV to “watch from start” who also get transferred onto iPlayer don’t get counted. So more than a third of all viewers now first appear in the “+7 days consolidated” figures which do include streaming numbers. The universal existence and vast use of TV apps like iPlayer and ITVX (and All4, and My 5) is why the overnight figures have become increasingly useless to all broadcasters. Disney+ don’t publish audience numbers. Ireland won’t show under either set of numbers even if they were - you’d need RTEPlayer figures to capture the audiences. I don’t know if the Irish version of BARB even monitors BBC viewing. -- “Most of the Universe is knackered, babes.” - The Doctor
