I'm sure this is not a 'first' in anyway. The Vatican has an immense library of books and other media, and it's likely they buy games solely so they can be added to the collection. But even assuming it's for personal use, the Vatican has a ppopulation of close to 1000 people, and it includes not just clergy, but various guards and citizens who work for the Vatican... AND their families. That some of them (maybe even the clergy!) just might enjoy video games is completely unsurprising and ordinary. I bet there are some copies of "Doom" in the Vatican too. And "Sonic the Hedgehog" and many other games. This story is just Larian marketing.
