You don't even need to go into his politics. His _business_ decisions aren't very good either. The entire "Imma gonna buy Twitter" debacle is the biggest example, although his ridiculous Cybertruck is a close second. Then there's his quickly-reversed decision to try and make all his Tesla factories completely automated, or firing 75% of Twitter staff willy-nilly (complete with a demand to 'Print out examples of code and mail them to me so I can review them and decided whether or not to keep you on' nonsense), or the folly of his Boring Company. I don't necessarily object to many of his goals. I'm a nerd; of course I'm on board with cheap spaceflight, electric cars, self-driving vehicles, robots, bases on Mars... even the hyper-loop makes me giddy. But beyond the core idea and funding, any success he's had has been on the backs of much, much smarter people than him. And the failures are almost entirely his own doing. Musk is a geek with money, chasing after sci-fi dreams, but his method and understanding are often comically simple. Musk isn't stupid. But he's not a genius either. He's probably of slightly above-average intelligence chasing with comic-book inspired goals and has the money to do so. Commendable to some degree (it's why he initially was so popular amongst the geek community) but his own limitations -intellectually and psychologically- are holding him back.
