I learned today (Sen Markwayne Mullin) several details of 
the Qatari airplane situation previously unreported.

Qatar has been trying to unload this large jet for a while, 
as the rest of their fleet are all smaller, more fuel 
efficient models, for which they have better spares and 
maintenance staff. This is their only 747-8.

More, negotiations on this particular jet began over a year 
ago with the Biden administration.

Why?

There is no second Air Force One. The other developed 
serious structural failures and was retired.
