Related advice: I've fallen in love with head lamps, the LED things that strap to one's forehead. Harbor Freight used to cheaply sell, or even give away, one that I have several copies of. It would be perfect for the task you describe above. I no longer see that exact model on their website, but they have others, including ones selling for less than 3 bucks. One friend of mine regularly invites me to do night rides on a particular bike trail. I find the head lamp very handy for taking bikes off his car's rack, then later putting them back on. P.S. I keep meaning to run lights to the attic of the garage, but the job never seems to rise to the top of the list. -- - Frank Krygowski
