In trying to help someone on GrapheneOS (which I can't even spell), I found out that the GrapheneOS developers recommend Accrescent, which will also work on normal Android phone such as my Samsung Android 13 Galaxy. Apparently Accrescent is designed to provide apps with a strong focus on privacy and security without extensive user tracking and data collection. Since I don't have a Google Account set up on my phone (for privacy, that's why) Accrescent fits right in with my Android privacy-focused philosophy. So, as I am wont to do, I immediately installed Accrescent to test it out. <https://github.com/accrescent/accrescent/releases> <https://github.com/accrescent/accrescent/releases/download/0.25.0/accrescent-0.25.0.apk> Name: accrescent-0.25.0.apk Size: 4771428 bytes (4659 KiB) SHA256: 22BC8C10F88F01B5AD8F74A2ECEF75679032857E0089C4B91A1AB4359DF2E682 Accrescent installed without issue on my unrootable Android 13 Galaxy. My initial assessment is that there aren't many apps in Accrescent but given its privacy goals, I'm sure we'll be hearing more about Accrescent in the future, so I figured I'd open a thread to learn more about it from those who are ahead of us in this privacy-focused endeavor. The benefits of Accrescent are apparently a. No Google Account Required b. Built to work effectively on non-rooted devices c. Privacy and Security-Centric App Distribution d. Secure App Installation and Updates e. Open Source and Transparent f. Focus on Essential Permissions Note that Accrescent is very different from Aurora, even as both are similar in some aspects - but the apps served are completely different. Does anyone here have more information to provide us all about this store?
