Because they made it an easy install. Yes, out of the box it looks a lot like Windows XP. But many people say that was their favourite Windows DE and that Microsoft 'got it right' I have modded it to be slightly OS/X like. It's stable, has all the apps I need. Support with its Ubuntu base is excellent by and large. There are minor irritations. But I can live with them -- “when things get difficult you just have to lie” ― Jean Claud Jüncker
