So the horntosser seems to think that a television show comes into being 
fully formed, written, performed, filmed, scored and edited on the day 
on which it was transmitted. Think again.

NBC had seen the scrips and rushes of Season 3 of Star Trek long before 
it even came on air, and not only did they see that Turnabout Intruder 
was not a good idea, so did Gene Roddenberry who decided that he didn't 
want anything to do with it or any of Season 3 at all. This is kind of 
reminiscent of Matt Smith who saw the scripts and story ideas of Series 
8 of Doctor Who and decided not to continue any further when he came 
across Kill The Moon and the Master being turned into a woman. He knew 
the series was doomed there and there.
