I also use Garmin and Strava (plus Komoot for social sharing). I track most rides/ hikes both on the wrist watch and on the mobile phone. Garmin always gets the raw data from the wrist watch while Strava takes the GPS data (w/o heart rate) from the mobile phone when the wrist watch did not record correctly (mostly due to user erros - e.g. forgot to re-start tracking after lunch break, sometimes due to technical errors).
