Indeed, and this fact is *also* why the computer LCD world very quickly 
went from 4:3 aspect screens to 16:9 (or if lucky, 16:10) aspect 
screens.

The economies of scale from using LCD panels that are "TV aspect ratio" 
is just too cheap to ignore.
