Linus Torvalds famously abandoned KDE when version 4 came out. I think he 
(along with a lot of others) didn’t notice the caveat attached to the 4.0 
release that it was just meant as a developer preview.

It became more usable from 4.1 onwards, which is when I started using it 
in ang^H^H^Hearnest.
