This is an error. Disney did not get the whole company. 21st Century Fox was formed in 2013 when Rupert Murdoch spun off entertainment and broadcasting from News Corp, which largely kept publishing. But as part of the sale to Disney, there was a further spin off of broadcast (Murdoch retained the television licenses), Fox News, sports, business news, and a few other things. Disney got 20th Century Fox, which was renamed 20th Century Studios. Disney also got sister company 20th Television. Disney specifically was not allowed to use the Fox trademark, for William Fox, the founder of one of the constituent movie studios.
