The problem is that "BCE" means "Before Common Era", but very few people actually know what the silly "common era" actually is. Plain old "BC" is at least understandable by almost everybody, whether or not they believe in the mythological Jesus, who wasn't actually born 2025 years ago even according to Biblical scholars.
