I can not have any internet connection while flying an airplane and
ForeFlight works just fine. All it needs in in the phone. With internet
I can read a book, watch a movie, play a game, get iMessage traffic, and
make calls. I don't need Apple's services to use my many Google and MS
Office apps. Or check Facebook and Instagram either. In fact I hardly
need iCloud at all.

If Google goes down Android phones are similarly affected!
