You are both totally incorrect.  The "file" command reports only
that is an epub file:

file Aspirin.epub

Aspirin.epub: EPUB document

If I change the suffix to "zip" it still shows "EPUB document."


file Aspirin.zip

Aspirin.zip: EPUB document


Using a hex editor, the magic number is that of zip:

50 4B 03 04

The file, even if not renamed, can also be unzipped.

Let's see y'all explain this behavior.
