haven't used a mac since the 1990s, but 40Tude Dialog is still the
best freeware newsreader (v2.0.15.1, 4d2b38.exe, 3.8 MB, 2005-2-7),
notably listed first in this extensive list of popular newsreaders:

(still using 2.0.15.1, works great! upgrades to 2.0.15.84 proved problematic)
