pay servers do seem to dominate usenet's long-standing legacy of
enabling and tolerating (and some would say promoting) gigabytes
of quasi-random mass-crossposted daily newsgroup floods (typical
political/religious codswallop)... and always without complaints

sure, popular free newsservers have contributed greatly to their
cause, but pay servers seem to get away with a bit more mischief
than their likewise conspicuously unapologetic free counterparts
as if usenet's eternal september is a sacred cow to be protected
