Or has impoted lots of English words and phrases. Visited Portugal last spring - lots of great seafood and wine, but at one point we ended up in an Indian restaurant on the outskirts of Lisbon. My dad was doing his best to order (being fluent, if rusty, in Portuguese,) but he and the proprietor were having difficulty getting through to each other. Finally, the light goes on, and he asks: "do you speak English?" Guy looks at him like he's from the moon. "I'm *Indian!*" he laughs.
