Funny thinking about this after recently re-reading Tom Wolfe's "The
Painted Word," in which the mania for minimalism as a kind of fashion
statement among artists and art critics, leading ultimately to a pretty
literal reductio ad absurdum, is a major throughline. Everything old
really *is* new again :/
