Upcoming State QSO Parties
State QSO party enthusiasts have 2 opportunities to participate this weekend: the Colorado QSO Party begins on August 31 at 1300 UTC, and concludes on September 1 at 0400 UTC, and the Tennessee QSO Party begins on September 1 at 1800 UTC and concludes on September 2 at 0300 UTC. More information and rules for each event can be found on their respective web sites, or in the "Contests" section below.

UK/EI DX SSB Contest
UK/EI DX SSB Contest takes place this weekend, beginning on Saturday, August 31 at 1200 UTC and concluding on Sunday, September, 1 at 1200 UTC. The contest replaces the original Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) DX Contest. The contest exchange is a signal report plus a serial number starting with 1. UK and Ireland entrants will also send their two-character UK/EI district code. Logs must be submitted in the Cabrillo format and are due 24 hours after the conclusion of the event. North American CW and RTTY Sprints
The North American CW and RTTY Sprints are coming up next month. The CW Sprint begins on Sunday, September 8, at 0000 UTC and concludes at 0359 UTC. The RTTY Sprint begins on Sunday, September 15, at 0000 UTC and concludes at 0359 UTC. Participants are reminded that these events occur on Saturday evenings in North America. Fall VHF/UHF Sprints
The Fall VHF/UHF Sprints, sponsored by the Mt. Airy VHF Radio Club, continue with the 144 MHz Sprint on Monday, September 9; the 222 MHz Sprint on Tuesday, September 17; and the 432 MHz Sprint on Wednesday, September 25. These sprints will begin at 7:00 PM local time and conclude at 11:00 PM local time. The final sprint event, the 902 MHz and Up Sprint, begins on Saturday, October 5, at 8:00 AM local time, and concludes at 2:00 PM local time. K1USN SST Open Premieres on September 13
CW operators and are invited to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the K1USN weekly Slow Speed Contest (SST) by participating in a new event, the K1USN SST Open (SSO). From its inception in September 2020, the twice-weekly SST has encouraged CW newcomers to join with experienced operators in a relaxed contest at speeds less than 20 WPM. Participants are encouraged to operate at 12 WPM or less so that CW newcomers can participate at a pace that is comfortable for them.
 
The SST Open takes place on Friday, September 13 from 2000 UTC to 2359 UTC. The exchange is your name and US state, Canadian province, or "DX" if located outside of the US or Canada. More information on the SSO is available at www.k1usn.com/SSO.html [ http://www.k1usn.com/SSO.html ] .
 
38th Biennial NCCC Sprint Ladder
The 38th NCCC Sprint Ladder competition takes place on Friday, August 30 from 0230 UTC, to 0300 UTC. Participants are reminded that the contest begins on Thursday night in North America. The competition runs for 7 consecutive weeks, until October 11.
