Thanks for the recommendations. How about Cassado
and Tortelier? Otherwise, I am looking for more
recent performances, preferably live.

FWIW my taste in cello goes like this:

I prefer Cassado to Casals.
I prefer Tortelier to Fournier.
I prefer Shafran to Rostropovich.

All other things being equal of course,
which they never are.
