Just for clarification:

"Return to Moria" it's a lot closer in mechanics and style to games
like "The Raft" or "Rust" than "Dwarf Fortress". DF is more of a
strategy-builder, owing more to games like SimCity, where you are a
godlike overseer of an entire community. "Return to Moria" uses a
first-person view and has you personally mining and crafting tools and
structures. It's more of a 'Minecraft-style' game.

That's not to say "Return to Moria" isn't a good game (or that "DF" is
bad), but they are quite different mechanically, and if you grab
"Return to Moria" thinking it's going to be in the style of "Dwarf
Fortress", you're going to be quite disappointed.

I liked "Return", but I didn't think it was anything too special. It
underutilized its "Lord of the Rings" license, and it felt quite
limited in what you could do. There was only so far you could ever
dig, and there were only so many tools and buildings you could craft.
It was an okay game --and it occupied me for 50+ hours-- but it didnt'
really stand out as an exemplar of the genre.
