All I can say that in 20 years in visiting bars where servicemen drank
I've never seen a "potential fight". A fight is when the guy in the
next bar stool punches you in the mouth. 

Do you civilians sit around and talk about?

Thinking about it a bit I HAVE seen small children threaten, "If you
don't give me my toy (whatever it might be) I'll tell mother.

"I'll tell me Ma when I go home..."
