In DND mode, the call may "ring" silently for a few times, then go to 
voicemail on no answer.

DND can be set automatically for a period of time. It can also be set to 
disable when the alarm clock (internal) goes off.

Certainly. You can put a number of callers in a group (VIP or Family) 
that ignores DND. I don't remember now exactly how, I did that long ago. 
Ring tones, perhaps.

I think there is a way to make notifications show in full even if the 
phone is locked.
