True, but they compensate for their lack of experience with a
willingness to experiment.  Watch kids play with a new toy.  They will
try everything possible to determine how something works and how it
might be used (often starting by trying to eat it).  Trial and error
can be a dangerous and expensive way to learn new skills, but seems to
work well.  Kids seem to be indestructible.
