I was jiving with Starfield a bit, but a couple days later and I'm bored
with it. Level 11. It does feel like Fallout in space, only with every
bit of soul removed from it.

It's got a kind of mix between the main quest feeling a bit Star Trek,
explore strange new worlds and feels optimistic in that sense. And a
bit like other space games where you can side with different factions,
Privateer maybe, and some of that is pretty dark.

Only the space combat isn't particularly good, neither is the ground
combat, especially with the lack of VATS (locking on in space is a bit
like VATS, but nothing in ground combat like that yet, and the majority
is ground combat)

It's got Fallout's loads of junk everywhere to pickup and the logistics
of dealing with that, as well as research and crafting, which I don't
like.

Most of the quests feel, I don't know souless, or simplified. I did
kind of like the space frog quest, but it still felt like it was made
for kids by someone who isn't one.

The skills/levelups I don't really like, it feels like going back to
Dungeon Master where you had to do repetative tasks to raise your skill
in something. It was a cool idea, but sucked in execution. I also
don't really have any idea what I should or could do with the skills,
they seem difficult to choose a path, or what's important first, even
after looking at suggestions nothing I follow seems to work the way it
was described.

The biggest game flaw is constant loading screens, it's not just that
they're long (most games I play now are so fast I can't even read the
tool tips, but not Starfield) It's that they're constant. I'll often
have to go through several in a row to get where I'm going. Space
travel - loading screen, langing, loading screen, fast travel to to the
tram, loading screen, take the tram, loading screen. Go down to the
undercity, loading screen, enter shop, loading screen. It's just way
too much.

In addition to that looking at the ground map means I have to hit escape
4 times to get out of menus back to first person, I might be missing
something to get straight back, but I haven't found it.

I have had the usual bugs where I have to restart. Things just quit
working. When I first started playing I thought that corpo advertisers
had taken over the universe as all the planets looked like they had cola
logo over them. They were hard to read and I eventually figured out
they said 'You aren't supposed to be seeing this' or something, looked
it up and you have to exit and restart the game to get it to go away.

I've had other things stop working like inventory or whatnot as well.

I have time right now to play it, but just don't want to. It's kind of
sad as I generally like these kinds of games, and there's something
there, it's just all rather meh. I think I'd rather go play Privateer,
or Rogue Galaxy Outlaw, or even give Elite Dangerous or Everspace 2
(very high ratings) another chance again.

I suppose I can try ME:Andromeda, as I seem to be tending a bit more
toward action, which ME was definately heading more into. I'm not even
really feeling like a space game now though.

I really want to play more EDF, but waiting for the mood to hit my
daughter, I suppose I could go back to one of the older games in the
series.
