"Doesn't respect your time." is how the kids say it.
I'm getting old, and if I'm not enjoying it because it's repetitive or a
chore, I might suffer through a bit, but my tolerance is way less than
it was when I was younger. Though that may be more there wasn't as many
games and my budget for them was nearly non-existent when I was younger.
Some things I don't mind though. Really hard bosses, based on my
original plays of DS3 and Bloodborne that's somewhere up in the 70
tries, at least if I can vary loadouts, tacics, etc. Over 100 (Midir)
is too much. I find my tolerance much lower in games where you don't
really have any choice, like just having a gun and weapon. That's one
reason I don't like the first bosses especially of any of the souls
games that you can't progress without defeating them. You haven't built
up any arsenal to try anything different, can't level up, etc.
Inventory management with lots of junk really grates on me now - BG3 is
horrible with this getting worse and worse to the point it was too much
in act 3. I fully intend to go back and play again if there's a
de-junkifier or inventory mod.
Nightreign somehow manages to be both boring and heartpounding at the
same time. The 45 minutes of leveling up and getting equipment every
time you attempt a boss with time pressure, but really the areas and
mobs are nearly the same every single time. Maybe I just don't like
roguelites like that any more, or maybe I never really did and just a
few really good ones overcame that.
Then of course there's the random or super rare drops in games like
Borderlands, Diablo, where you keep fighting the same mobs/bosses over
and over trying to get that perfect drop, or even just a good one. I've
had an assfull of that, and don't have the patience anymore.
