You need to update your definition of 'recent'.

That's already changing. More Canadians are getting passports
then before. Prudence says a Canadian licence plate is an
invitation to vandalism. Plus There seems to be a lot more
street 'rallies' than during the past few years.

You will notice a lack of Canadians at your next 'March Break',
Mardis Gras, &c. Eurpoeans are planning a lot more visits
to Canada over the next few years, especially down east
where they talk funny, even to us central Canadians.
