It did appear to download and install but looking for "Pan"shows me nothing more than the installer. The problem I had with Mozilla is that it never opened a window into which I could tell it which account to go to. I uninstalled and installed it several times to no effect. Pan sounds better anyway if I can get it to operate since it is a Newsreader only. It's good to see that you're ignoring my advice and doing your own thing. Hiding in plain sight: Edit -> Edit_News_Servers Change: Address, UserName, Password and nothing else until Pan is working. I installed Pan on Linux Mint. Hopefully, the news server configuration is the same as whatever version of Windoze you're using. I was planning on posting a short review of Pan. Instead of a review, it's turning into an itemized bug report. So far, the bugs are all minor irritations, so nothing to worry about. I did manage to hang Pan twice for no obvious reason. Exit Pan and try again seems to work. One bug that might be a problem was that I initially downloaded 100 RBT headers. That was sufficient to see if things were working. I then downloaded 10,300 articles, which brought me everything since Jan 1, 2024. On initial inspection, all 10,300 headers were present and accounted for. However, when I exited and restarted Pan, I was back to Pan showing only the first 100 headers. I didn't have much luck and suspect I might have to wipe all the articles and settings so I could start over. Too soon to troubleshoot, complain or both since it might something I did wrong. Also, I'm still looking for where the "filters" are hiding. >Mozilla wanted to take over my email account and kept opening email windows. Thunderbird treats Usenet articles as if they were email. You might want to backup your Thunderbird directories and settings before blundering onward. -- Jeff Liebermann jeffl@cruzio.com PO Box 272 http://www.LearnByDestroying.com Ben Lomond CA 95005-0272 Skype: JeffLiebermann AE6KS 831-336-2558
