The mechanics were fairly solid, but I quickly tired of the tedious traipsing back and forth across the open world, I thought the whole "Nemesis" system was overblown, and the story was dull. It looked pretty enough, but it lacked any amazing set-pieces, and the visuals overall were fairly average. "Shadow of War" (the second game) also released with a terrible microtransaction/lootbox system that -fortunately- was reversed by the time the GOTY versions (or whatever it's called that they're selling now) came out. But it screwed over the franchise's biggests fans who bought the game day one.
