Any vague call like the one you received is overwhelmingly likely to be a scam. It's lucky you couldn't hear the numbers in the message. If you called one of them, they would almost certainly (try to) persuade you to reveal information that they would then use to drain your existing accounts or open new accounts in your name, or both. Never, never, never respond to someone who calls you about financial matters. It is best not to speak at all in these unsolicited calls, because they can record your voice and use it to substantiate bogus transactions. If the call seems to be legit, hang up (or don't answer) and call your financial institution yourself, using the number on the back of your card or on printed statements they have previously sent you. Avoid googling the phone number, because you may be taken to a spoofing site that _looks_ legit but actually directs you to a boiler room of fraudsters. -- Stan Brown, Tehachapi, California, USA https://BrownMath.com/ Shikata ga nai...
