He was one of the key visionaries in the US Space program
and died right before Michael Collins got to orbit the
moon, alone.. in Apollo 11

He wrote *lots* of science fact and speculative fiction.

The NYTs references the editorial, which I remember, in Popular
Mechanics suggesting sending his ashes to the Moon.

(I think I read it elsewhere... it was a widespread idea)
