   The need for it has been 'depricated'. However
   it was one of the more confusing bits of the
   language. You can still see vestiges of it in
   some Python, even Pascal, fine-formatting
   commands however.

   MOSTLY, FORTRAN is very straight-up procedural
   and cleanly structured. It's still as good as
   most any language for writing apps - and still
   esp strong when heavy math is required. The
   old Dilberts built it right.
