We used to call this the dumbing down of society.

The public, at least here in USA, has lost its ability to think clearly and
create arguments for what they supposedly believe in. Then they pick up
and support any new cause and place themselves, usually on the wrong side,
and then think that they have improved society, themselves, or the world.

An easy proof of this is to read any of the elected leaders acceptance
speaches from the past and compare them to the recent past or this election
cycle when it comcludes. These are easily found online all the way back to
President George Washington. I hope that it is obvious that those before
us had more details, concepts, and words that they understood and included
in everyday speach and people were able to communicate. If you need to be
told by a candidate to vote for them what reasons did they give? Did they
pursuade you?

One thing I will say is that I've changed my mind over the years and read
much more about each candidate and what they accomplished according to my
vote. I never voted for the first of anything. If you vote for a party
you've likely lost something whether you realize it or not. Parties change
and may no longer represent your values. Confirm that before voting for
them. If you have a real stance on something and can spend a few years in
the public eye consider leading your local government to actually fix
something all people want. If you are good perhaps you can get elected to
a position of more responsibility.

We need more than government to be better and survive. You, your jobs,
careers, and public interactions help define who you are and how you affect
society. I hope all of this is clear and what you follow year round.
