Google Groups stopped supporting new posts or subscriptions. Historical content remained available. This removed several luminaries from the group, so they couldn't engage in provocative posts which encouraged more posting, or posting sprees which drove up the post count. RSPW cannot exist without the likes of Robby or Jason Todd, and everyone knows it. It also prevented tech-unsavvy posters like the ones attracted here from John Henry's hate-pages or the occasional Usenet reminiscence on Reddit or the like from posting here. Considering there was a Vice documentary which began airing four months after Google pulled the plug, and it referenced RSPW extensively, we may have missed out on a whole new crop of newbies. This is not only the most important occurrence of 2024, it's the most important thing that has EVER happened to the group and that cannot be argued. 2. Chad posted ]v[etaphoid's real name, driving him away for good. Just when ]v[etaphoid thought he had won the decades-long battle against The Chad, his entire world was upended and he was forced to stop posting here forever. After the years of ]v[etaphoid ridiculing Chad, Chad's wives, Chad's kids, and Chad's girlfriends, it's difficult to feel sympathy for the man, but still, RSPW lost a very funny, if often mean-spirited contributor when Chad forced him into hiding and slapped him so hard that he will never, ever return. 3. Dink created dozens of songs about John Henry and other RSPW guys and put them on YouTube. Even though he's a weird maniac, you have to admit that Dink is extremely creative and funny. These weren't great, but they were good. 4. John Henry got a part-time job and interviewed for a management position. Everyone bagged on JH for not wanting to work, but this guy buckled down and made a serious impact in the corporate world. He may be your boss someday. 5. % shut down this group and remained undefeated. Not unexpectedly, this Usenet legend closed down this rathole once and for good. Though many tried, he couldn't be defeated.
