Why do they need a home just for gay senior citizens? There must be
something else going on.

Given the way some parents act I can see this being needed. Though I'm
not sure how the kids are going to benefit from it without the parents
knowing. A "Don't tell the parents" campaign?

As usual these sorts of things were likely added just to win the vote
of some member of Congress.
