I'm off to a great start.

I'm feeling very addled right now. I was sliding by on the battle
against the undead (virus) until yesterday with only a slightly itchy
sometimes runny nose for the last 9 days while everyone else was (and
still is) fairly sick, but it hit me with a vengeance yesterday.

In some sort of Rube Goldburg series of events I was making breakfast
when I blearily shoved the plate on to the counter, but didn't really
notice the spring tongs I probably left there last night in this state.
I shoved them against, which promptly launched the plate away from the
counter as soon as I removed my hand. My normally very good gamer
reflexes let me touch the plate as it fell, but I retracted my hand in
reaction from my addled state, watched it fall to the floor in slow
motion thinking I'd slowed it enough. It seemed to explode into a
thousand pieces not when it struck, but when the higher part hit the tile.

I used to like tile, I've broken so much on the tile in this kitchen in
the last 4 years I'm wishing I had vinyl again, or preferably linoleum
which makes a nice balance between give and hard. I've got rugs on
parts of the tile, but it seems to get very dirty and curl up, and
doesn't seem to be in the right places.

It doesn't help this place is tiny and I have 3 desks for me and my kids
in the kitchen with only an island fit for two to eat at.

Well I hope I've entertained, as I'm sure I must've whatever higher
beings laugh at our expense.
