Same happened to me in Maryland as me and three other agents were on our 
way back to the office from lunch. We found ourselves surrounded at an 
intersection by cop cars on all sides, cops piling out and pointing guns 
at us. There'd been a bank robbery a few miles away minutes before and 
the thieves shot someone as they fled in a red Dodge Charger. I was 
driving a red Dodge Charger.

The cops were screaming at me to shut off the car and get out and I knew 
the last thing I wanted to do was get out of the car in front of all 
these adrenaline-hyped guys who are pointing guns at me with my own gun 
on my waist. Yes, there was a badge right next to it but why risk your 
life on betting they don't have tunnel vision? So I turned off the car 
and then activated all the police lights on my car--front windshield, 
grill, both side windows, and rear, burped the siren a few times, and 
then turned on my radio's PA and blasted out for them all to hear, 
"There are four armed federal agents in this vehicle. Run the tags and 
you can verify the agency it is registered to. We'll wait with our hands 
visible while you confirm. We do not want to emerge from this car with 
our duty pistols on our persons with 20 cops pointing guns at us."

Thirty seconds goes by and all the cops lower their guns and we get out 
and resolve the issue.
