Fav composers: 1) Mozart 2) Beethoven 3) Schubert 4/5) Haydn/Brahms Composers I feel are quite inspiring as well: Schönberg, Webern and Berg R Strauss and Ravel have some cool stuff as well I guess; beautiful and very interesting soundscapes... problem with Chopin is: too schmaltzy; Chopin is also not mischievous... he's like... dunno full of himself, very unfunny... no bite, Chopin is like a vegetarian and Debussy is like a vegan... no bite... fav Mozart opera recordings update: Idomeneo: Gardiner (Archiv) Serail: *Beecham (EMI), Fricsay (DG) (and Krips (Warner) - not so fond of Gedda, but the accompaniment is just really good and I like Popp) nozze: Fricsay (DG), *Suitner (Berlin Classics) DG: Fricsay (DG), *Klemperer (Warner) cosi: *Böhm (Decca, Warner), Östman (Decca) Zauberflöte: Bergman (Arthaus), *Fricsay (DG) (and Klemperer (Warner) for some special moments)
