SEASON 2 - EPISODE 1 - THE ROBOT REVOLUTION

Better than SPACE BABIES is the best I can say about this episode.

The storyline of THE ROBOT REVOLUTION can be quite perplexing. The
temporal mechanics involving Belinda and Alan are difficult to grasp.
This is a common trait in Russell T Davies' storytelling, where the
concepts often overshadow the structural intricacies of the plot. His
ideas are always big but the plot mechanics get left behind. The pacing
is incredibly rapid, jumping from one idea to the next with little time
taken to explore the details.

Despite some clumsy social commentary, the latest series opener,
propelled only by Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu’s somewhat refreshing
doctor-companion dynamic, barely manages to stick the landing - much
like the once-reliable TARDIS which now seems to have lost its way - not
unlike modern dr who IMHO.

This is the beginning of the end, no question.
