   Agreed ... some new underlying tech - like the switch
   from bipolar transistors to CMOS - seems necessary
   for the "next step".

   The question of course is "WHAT tech" ?

   Some fundamental re-thinking of digital and how
   to do processors might also be useful. But again,
   The Question ... still wondering if efficient
   non-binary logic is possible these days but
   haven't seen much on that.
