I've been lucky enough to never need the truly heavy drugs. I did one
time get given some oxycodone and was told to take the pills before
the pain hit. I took one pill and when it hit it was just like when I
had the flu. Plenty of strength but no will to do anything. Luckily I
never had any pain so I never took another one of those pills.

I'm more than willing to take something for pain if I need it but if I
can do without the pain killers I'll choose that option.
