I've seen some people on the local subreddit complaining about 5G so I 
guess it's partially active. The last time I was in a physical Verizon 
store was a couple of years ago. They has big posters touting 5G although 
it wasn't even available in this area. Montana isn't exactly on the 
cutting edge of technology.
