I had a friend who had the ability to get two people at a bar arguing with each other. Then he would slip away. Unfortunately the US doesn't have the ability to get two enemies to the point of mutual destruction. It usually has to take sides even when there is no advantage. If it does make the attempt it screws it up. How did that Sino-Soviet split work in the long run?
