I'm not being facetious; I'm really wondering. If you start with a C:\ that's barely large enough to contain the OS and then install third party software you will run out of space on C:\. I can't remember the chain of events that triggered it, possibly a failed update, but even with a large C:\ I saw it was filling up rapidly and not from anything I was installing. It turned out that the culprit was the OS repeatedly logging that it was running out of room. It's fun going on an expedition to find stuff you can delete to make more room.
